Every day, young people are bombarded with social media posts, text messages, and important emails that they have to read. With that said, how many young people know the latest non-fiction book by Cal Newport?

Many young people say they do not have the time or money to pick up books and read for pleasure than ever before thanks to the rise of the internet and online news media. But as a matter of fact, reading print or electronic books on a daily basis can have surprising effects on the way a person writes, thinks, and handle stress. Successful people from the likes of Warren Buffet and Mark Cuban has consistently said that reading is a daily activity in their lives because of the many benefits that come with it.

Mortimer Adler, an American philosopher, educator, popular author, and founder of the Institute for Philosophical Research said, “Reading is a basic tool in the living of a good life.”

There are many awesome benefits with reading on a daily basis that can help for school and communication skills. One of them is that it helps expand vocabulary because a person can gain exposure to more words. In the job market, an individual that is knowledgeable, well-spoken, and well-read would advance their career faster than individuals who do not have those traits.

Another major benefit is it lowers stress, which we all need at some point in our busy lives. A novel that can capture your imagination actually will distract readers from all the problems the world has given them. Reading allows the reader to relax and live in the present.

The major issues that one faces when it comes to reading are finding the time to do it. What I do is I set one hour a day, usually towards the end of the night, to read with my Kindle in my hands. During this time, reading helps me relax and go to sleep so I can get ready for the day tomorrow.

Another way somebody can read more often is instead of doing one hour block, bring a book or Kindle whenever he or she goes. There are many instances where we have small amounts of times between meetings, classes, or lunch. Those little pages can all add up to provide efficient time management to the reader.

If that is not good at all, I recommended audio books to listen to in the car. It can not only help you relax but also think while stuck in the early morning traffic jam.

As can be seen, books can provide many benefits if read on a daily basis. If we all read, we can have a more productive and scholarly society.
