"FSU London Lads": Jake Morgan
“FSU London Lads” presents its inaugural lad , Jake Morgan!
Since the FSU London Ladies Series went over so well, we expanded to FSU London Lads as well. Florida State University has an amazing international program, and according to their site, “Florida State is among the nation’s elite for study abroad totals.” The London program in particular has much to offer, and the students that make up the program are intelligent, unique, and driven. So it’s my pleasure to feature these lovely FSU London lads!
Jake is currently pursuing an MFA in Writing from FSU’s College of Motion Arts. After FSU, his dream is to move to LA, make lots of friends, and work his way into a staff writing role on a television comedy. If that doesn’t kill him, he would love to be a showrunner some day. And if he adopts a wolf along the way, well, that would just be awesome. His twitter handle is @MrJakeMorgan. Read his interview below!
Q: What is your favorite color?
JM: Teal. It makes me think of blink-182’s self titled album, which was pretty much my anthem in high school.
Q: Do you have a favorite number?
JM: 21. My basketball number back in the day.
Q: What’s your favorite food?
JM: My Mom’s chili. It makes me think of home, of football, of Tennessee in the fall, which is honestly as good as it gets.
Q: Would you rather be as wide as you are tall, or as tall as you are wide?
JM: I know what it’s like being 5’10” tall, but I’ve never been 5’10” inches wide. Make me a square!
Q: What’s your favorite article of clothing and why?
JM: My black North Face rain jacket. I’ve had it for almost a decade, and it’s the most reliable item in my life. I also have a theory that it can deflect bullets. I know it’s a bad theory, but it’s a damn good jacket.
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
JM: Tina Fey.
Q: Would you rather never touch another human again or never touch a computer powered device again?
JM: Definitely never touch a computer powered device. I’ve seen The Matrix.
Q: Who is your role model?
JM: I admire the hell out of Conan O’Brien. Have ever since I was a kid. Looking back, his zany style was one of the key influences as I began to find my comedic voice. He always made me laugh and taught me about being a better human. If you want a prime example, check out Conan’s farewell speech from his brief run as host of The Tonight Show, where wanted the world to know, “If you work really hard, and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.” I try to think of these words whenever I’m feeling cynical, or when I’m at Chipotle and the guy in front of me orders tacos.
I also love my parents. They’re my biggest supporters.
Q: Would you rather shit bricks or puke slugs?
JM: Let’s go with “eaten by wolves.”
Q: Who is your celebrity crush?
JM: Rashida Jones. Please don’t tell Taylor Swift.
Q: What’s your favorite place in the world?
JM: 12 South, my old neighborhood in Nashville. It really is the happiest place on Earth.
Q: Would you rather be able to see one year into the future or change any one decision from your past?
JM: I know that every decision, every mistake has made me who I am today, but dude. Give me the time machine.
